International Student Program

In January 2012, bet356 issued our first student visa to Nicholas Shao from China, who made school history by becoming the first international student to graduate from First Presbyterian Day School with the Class of 2013. Since then, bet356 continues to seek ways to broaden the international experience while teaching from a Christian world view. bet356 has hosted international students from China, Korea, Vietnam, Spain, and Italy.

Homestay Option with Host Families

bet356 offers host family options for international students who prefer a home option. Host families undergo a rigorous application process to be approved, and bet356 takes great care to connect international students with host families who share similar interests and preferences.

Jones Family International Residence

bet356 offers the Jones Family International Residence for students who prefer a dormitory living arrangement. The residence houses multiple students under the leadership of a host family. Students participate in activities and meals together along with trips and outings in the local community.

Kristen Kreutner

Director of International Programs

Mrs. Kreutner has 18 years of experience in education and is an advocate for hands-on, multi-sensory lessons and a team approach to achieving student-centered academic success. Prior to her tenure at bet356, she served as a principal at Northshore Christian Academy in Washington. In addition to her role as principal, she also serves as Northshore’s Science, Technology, Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) Coordinator.

Mrs. Kreutner holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California Lutheran University with a double-major in education and mathematics. She holds a Master of Education degree from California Lutheran University with an emphasis on technology. She also serves as bet356’s Director of Innovation, Instruction, and Curriculum.

Andy Edgren

Director of International Relations

Andy Edgren graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in management, with an emphasis on marketing and international business. He lived in the city of Taiyuan, China in 1984-85, and again from 1989 to 1992, where he taught English at Shanxi University. Mr. Edgren and his father have worked with international students for over 25 years, and his heart’s desire is to help international families navigate a great education for their children.
